Parents
Parents are encouraged to take advantage of the tools MCASD offers to enhance their ability to facilitate student progress.
Daily Parent Tips - The links below provide school success ideas for parents as well as expert advice on stages of child development and behavior.
AlertNow-This communication tool allows school district officials to contact parents by telephone about news or changes regarding scheduled events. By keeping your phone contact information up-to-date in our database, you will automatically receive AlertNow messages from district administrators to your designated telephone numbe . Contact information forms must be returned in person. This is also one method the district will use for communcating with parents in the case of an emergency.
e-Schoolbook-This tool allows parents to see their child's classroom assignments, homework, and test scores throughout the school year. This helps by allowing parents to know when work is due and monitor their chold's performance on a daily basis. Using this tool helps parents be an more active participant in the education of their child. To set up an eSchoolbook account, return the e-Schoolbook account form to the principal's office in person.
e-Schoolbook Limitations - Please be advised if you send an email message to a teacher via e-Schoolbook, the reply may not actually reach you. This is due to a function of e-Schoolbook not under the control of MCASD. For that reason, we suggest you only use email links and addresses of teachers and staff located on the Faculty pages. Also be sure to keep your parent contact information up- to-date to avoid similar problems in email applications within e-Schoolbook.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)- This association offers unique opportunities for collaboration among parents and educators and also hosts several guest speakers and entertaining activities throughout the school year.
Technology-The distirict offices and television station maintain websites and cablecast programs that provide helpful information about children's health, educational tools and tips for parents, and district activities aimed at improving the educational experience and quality of life.
Parents Toolkit - The Central Pennsylvania Gold Medal Initiative has developed a Parent’s Toolkit to help answer the many questions high students and their parents will have about making career and education decisions. The kit includes a wealth of resources, including information on making school count, how Pennsylvania State Academic Standards for Career Education and Work can affect the students’ school experience and exploring careers.
These are some of the tools that MCASD makes available to help parents communicate with us and become more informed about their child's education. In addition, this website lists email and phone contacts for all offices. The administration and support staff are available to discuss any concerns with parents upon appointment. Please use the appropriate phone extentsions to make appointments if needed.
