NEWS AND EVENTS

6-17-20   Summer Planning Presentation

Please check back for additional updates provided by the Office of the Superintendent during the summer months.

7-11-20 – The monthly meeting of the Mount Carmel Area School District Board of Directors will be held Thursday, July 16th at 7:00 PM in the Junior Senior High School LGL. The public is invited, but must wear a mask, practice safe social distancing and be prepared for a temperature screening upon arrival.

7-4-20 – MCA Learning Community – Our administration wanted to give a brief update concerning the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. As always our main goal is to concentrate on a safe learning environment for all students and staff. Our administration has been meeting almost daily to plan for the fast approaching start of school which will be on August 24, 2020.

Our district goal is to create a “Health and Safety” plan that outlines how we will accomplish a safe return to school. Part of this plan will be to have options ready for the seemingly daily changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our planning for return is centered around three options. 1. Full return to school for all students and staff on August 24th. 2. Online Virtual instruction and 3. Hybrid options (such as cycling a certain  number of students into our buildings over the course of the week.) More information on this planning can be found here: http://www.mca.k12.pa.us/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Summer-2020-Update-1.pdf

We realize that any option short of a full return of students and staff will create hardships for our learning community. At this time, no final decisions have been made because new information and guidance about how our community must fight this pandemic is still being provided. What I can tell all of you is that we will be ready to roll out any of the plans mentioned above as we learn what the reality of our community will be like later this summer for a safe return to school.

If you have any questions concerning the reopening of school in the Fall and our planning process – please do not hesitate to reach out to me by calling the school district at 570 339 1500 or emailing me at cheddarp@mca.k12.pa.us

For now, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Mr. Cheddar
