Mount Carmel Area School District Board Policies


Educational Community

   The Mount Carmel Area School District is located in rural Northumberland County, PA. It serves a community population of approximately 12,000 people, including Mount Carmel Borough, Mount Carmel Township, Kulpmont Borough, and Marion Heights Borough. The district is classified as a poor and rural community. Approximately 56% of the student population is classified as economically disadvantaged. Mount Carmel Area is considered a blue collar community with a high population of senior citizens. Mount Carmel Area Jr. Sr. High School is composed of approximately 700 students and the Mount Carmel Area Elementary School is composed of approximately 850 students.

    The Mount Carmel Area School District is governed by the Mount Carmel Area School District Board of Directors. The Board consists of nine members who are elected for three to four year terms. Terms are staggered so that no more than five members are elected every two years. The attorney for the Board and the Board's external auditor are employed on a part-time basis to meet the legal and auditing responsibilities of the Board. The chief executive officer of the school system is the superintendent who is appointed by the Board.

     Log in to your school email account.  Your default password is your student ID number.  You are required to change it the first time you log in.  You can find the links and codes to your classes on the School Closure Resource Site  or you can contact your teacher to add/invite you directly.

MCA School Closure Resources – Gd. 7-12

4-22-20 The Class of 2023’s Rohrbach’s fundraiser will be available for pickup on Thursday, April 23rd in the high school parking lot. The pick up time will be from 4pm- 7pm. If you are unable to make it to the pickup please contact class advisors Miss Danilowicz or Mr. Monger.

Reminder that, beginning today, MCASD will begin M-W-F only lunch and next day breakfast distribution. Children will still get meals for everyday, but they will only be distributed M-W-F. Members of the administration will continue delivering, and food service workers will continue distribution at MCAES.

The GSV United Way is sponsoring a cloth mask giveaway on Saturday, April 25, 12-2 pm at the Brady Fire Co.


With Governor Wolf’s declaration that schools are now closed until the end of the academic year, we know you have many questions – continuing our students’ education, the Prom, Class Night, Graduation, National Honor Society Inductions, sports, the School Musical- the list goes on and on.

Please understand that we are working hard to do the best we can for our students, and we will have information coming soon.

Our administration, faculty, and staff have been meeting virtually over the course of the last few weeks, and we are continuing with plans to provide continuity of education for all of our students. Mount Carmel Area faculty, aides, and support staff will continue to provide Review and Enrichment activities during the closure, and teachers and aides will be available to work with students and answer questions online, via email, and on the phone whenever possible. Please check the District’s website and individual teachers’ sites for updated information. If anyone does not have access to online resources, paper copies can be made available for you – just contact your Principal, the Special Education Department, or call the school at 570-339-1500 and follow the prompts.
