Upcoming events to support ThinkBIG


Monday, March 13th – ThinkBIG Student Leader meeting during homeroom in the LGL.
Starting Monday March 13th through Thursday, April 20th Student Leaders will be selling $5.00 Hollywood Pizza and Scicchitano’s Pizza coupons. Each coupon is worth $5.00 and both businesses will be donating $1.00 off of each coupon sold. Anyone interested in purchasing a coupon can see any student leader or Miss Niglio in the main office.
Saturday, March 25th – Student leaders will be collecting donations in the Annual Girardville Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.
Friday, March 31st– ThinkBIG will host an Elementary School Spring Fling Dance for students in grades 4th – 6th from 6-8 PM in the Elementary School Cafeteria. Cost is $3.00. A DJ will be provided as well as refreshments for purchase.

General Information

ThinkBIG is an organization created in 2012 to help local pediatric cancer patients and their families receiving cancer treatment at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital with the financial burdens associated with their cancer diagnosis. Mount Carmel Area teamed up with ThinkBIG in 2014 by hosting a 12-hour dance marathon event that is held every October in the Mount Carmel Area HS gymnasium.┬áIn just two short years, MCA has raised over $43,000 for this cause and the event itself continues to grow each year. Starting in January, student leaders hold fundraisers twice a month up until the day of the event, the total is then revealed at the end of the dance marathon showing the efforts of students, alumni and community members throughout the year. Fundraisers consist of collecting donations at local parades, holding alumni sports tournaments, bake sales, dances, gold sock football games and much more. MCA has also formed their own committee whose members consist of Mount Carmel Area alumni and community members. By doing so, the dance marathon has become more successful. Students in grades in K-12 can participate in the event that aims to inspire them to join the fight against pediatric cancer.
